What is Nordic Walking?
Nordic walking is defined as fitness walking
with specialist poles providing enhanced use of the upper body & increase in length of stride whilst exercising . Using specific techniques originally used by cross country skiers as a way of getting ski fit
in the summer . Nordic walking is form of activity that improves health , wellbeing & quality of life & which
can also be used for enhancing sports performance & conditioning for a wide range of sports including running, rowing,
kayaking, cross training & skiing. Nordic walking is suitable for everyone from exercise referral schemes, cardiac
rehabilitation to sports conditioning and ultimate sports.

Sports Performance & Conditioning
walking can be tailored to specific sports with an increase in intensity & using progressive techniques and forms of training such as running, skipping bounding & skating &
incorporating hilly terrain & interval/fartlek training to increase difficulty levels .Especially good as an alternative
form of endurance training for runners and also ultimate sports athletes & cross training & rowing. Especially
good for rehabilitation from sports injuries in its low impact form.
Health & Wellbeing-Weight loss
walking is recommended by BHF (British heart foundation) as a low impact gentle & unintimidating form of exercise using
full body movement and has been proven to help prevent & treat people with health conditions such as back, neck &
shoulder pain, osteoarthritis & osteoporosis , diabetes type 2 , stress & anxiety , obesity& high blood pressure
as well as improving general physical & mental health & wellbeing.
4 Week Beginners -"Learn to Nordic Walk" Programme
the fundamentals of Nordic walking techniques and how to master this unique form of exercise in a structured teaching
programme. It includes understanding & analysing gait & co ordination , mastering
pole handgrips & use of pole straps, pole angles whilst walking over differing terrains and understanding how to modify
progression in technique , distance, speed & intensity to increase effort levels if necessary . Recommended starter package
for anyone who has never Nordic walked before & wants to achieve the maximum potential in their Nordic walking training
Half hour taster session for £5.00 per
person to see if Nordic walking is for you. Money will be refunded on purchase of any Nordic walking " training

Power walking is a style of walking which is
performed at a steady pace , and without poles (although hand weights can be held for resistance). It
consists of pronounced arm movements and brisk footsteps, and requires little more than comfortable attire, proper walking
shoes and a love for the great outdoors and nature.
It is an effective way of managing weight

a platform for thousands of people to join forces in the UK in the largest celebration of
green spaces. Over 1.4 million people have taken part in events in the past , during Love Parks Week 2015 and we want
a lot more people to join the movement. Look out for local promotions nearer the time & Body coach fitness outdoor fitness
